Environment tax on flights to NZ
British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's pre-budget report includes a proposed a $240 enviromental tax on flights to New Zealand, which will come into effect by 2010. The increase aims to penalise travellers using environmentally-damaging fossil fuels.
To help offset carbon emmissions, passenger levies will increase the further you fly so Kiwis travelling home from the UK will be affected.
NZ Prime Minister John Key has raised concerns over the potential for other countries to also impose environment taxes on flights to New Zealand.
