Queenstown is a small town on the south island of New Zealand with an urban population of about 13K, however if you count backpackers and tourists this population rises to about 28k!. It’s such a unique place, where you’re not only surrounded by the awesome rugged beauty of its mountains and Lake Wakatipu, but there are also hundreds of activities to avail of. It's a paradise for people who like to spend the holidays being active instead of just chilling on the beach.
The average New Zealand tax refund is $550
Everyone, especially adrenaline junkies, will find something for their taste; skydiving, bungee-jumping, canyon swing, horse-riding, hiking, fishing, rafting, paragliding, mountain biking, kayaking, zip-riding, quad biking...the list is endless! Just be prepared-your wallet will get thinner by the end of your stay, but it’s worth the investment!
The food - one of the best burgers I've ever had would probably be the famous Fergburger (with lamb of course). Another beautiful walk is the Tiki Trail that takes you to the Skyline Restaurant at the top of the hill. You can take a gondola and get there in 10 minutes for amazing views. If you prefer to walk you can listen to birds, smell the fresh scent of the pines, try wild blackberries, sit in tree-carved chairs and feel the breeze. Once you get to the top you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views.
You can't stop in Queenstown without a visit to the Kiwi Birdlife Park. Kiwis are elusive creatures that usually only go out at night, but thanks to the special downlighting, you'll be able to see these fascinating flightless birds that are only native to New Zealand.
