Challenge Complete for Cluney Tunes

17 June 2011

/resources/image/news/sm_383.4.jpgOn the 11th of June a fighting fit team of taxback.com and sales-promotions.com staff participated in one of the most gruelling endurance tests in the world. This team, known as The Cluney Tunes, undertook the infamously rigorous Caledonian Challenge. This demanding feat consists of walking 54 miles (two marathons) in just 24 hours. While undertaking this mammoth task participants ascend and descend Ben Nevis twice and take over 100,000 steps!

The Cluney Tunes consisted of Eamon Clune, Tony Clarke, Anne Marie Smee and Mark Toher. Tony Staunton was due to participate but unfortunately he was unable to attend. The Cluney Tunes team was complimented by Deirdre McGrath and Elizabeth MacCann who ran the support team.  Deirdre and Elizabeth provided food, drink and encouragement to the determined challengers.

The Cluney Tunes’ hard work and determination was not only witnessed on the rugged Scottish highlands; before their colossal journey had even begun the Cluney Tunes had raised €3000 for the deserving causes supported by the Caledonian Challenge. These funds will facilitate the provision of much-needed support and improvement in quality of life for children and the elderly.

Congratulations to all the Cluney Tunes involved in the Caledonian Challenge and well done on such impressive fundraising.
